SAS Scandinavian Airlines has chosen Airbus Protect as trusted partner for cybersecurity consulting services related to the new Part-IS regulation of the EASA

For SAS, the largest airline in Scandinavia, safety and security are top priorities, especially now with digitised operations and an increasingly connected fleet. The cybersecurity strategy of the airline already follows leading international standards such as NIST. They now aim to quickly become fully compliant with Part-IS requirements, ensuring they continue to operate with the highest level of security.

Part-IS is a new European regulation that will enter into force in February 2026 for airlines, MROs and Aircraft Operators. The regulation, based on a number of preexisting guidelines and standards, aims to ensure the aviation sector achieves a fundamental level of cybersecurity.

SAS relies on Airbus Protect as a trusted third party expert to complete a gap assessment ensuring that the upgrade from current standards to Part-IS is on track as planned. Airbus Protect is a subsidiary of Airbus specifically set up to deliver risk management consultancy services related to safety, cybersecurity and sustainability, notably for companies in the aerospace sector.

“We have chosen Airbus Protect because of their commitment to ensuring Airbus aircraft safety and security for decades. They have an end-to-end view on cyber and information security and in-depth knowledge of the different standards within Part-IS. We believe, with their insight and collaborative reflection, we will be able to not only meet the new standard, but to excel our Safety, Information and Cybersecurity teams to move beyond compliance by integrating safety and security management.” said SAS Project Manager Part-IS.

“Being selected by SAS means not only working with one of the oldest airlines in industry, it means always striving for excellence. Our teams liaised in a trustful collaboration with one common objective: to ensure security for aviation safety, on the ground and in the air. Taking an early adopter position puts us in the limelight, but the benefit of early leadership is always keeping ahead.” commented Airbus Protect HO Part-IS Consulting Services.
